English version:

We are pleased that after the winter vacations, life is returning to our campus and that we can continue to offer you face-to-face events despite the tense infection situation. However, this requires far-reaching hygiene and precautionary measures, which will be tightened once again with the new Corona Ordinance of the State of Baden-Württemberg. The ordinance, which takes effect on January 12, 2022, includes the following changes relevant to study operations:

Alert level 2 at least until February 1, 2022

Regardless of the seven-day hospitalization incidence or the statewide numbers of intensive care beds, alert level 2 will apply in Baden-Württemberg at least until February 1, 2022.

Obligation to wear an FFP2 mask indoors at the university (warning level)

Within closed rooms, persons aged 18 and over must wear an FFP2 respiratory protection mask in the warning and alarm levels. This regulation also applies to teaching and learning at our university. For employees who do not have direct contact with students or external visitors in the course of their work, the SARS-CoV-2 occupational health and safety regulation still applies, which requires the wearing of a medical mask in office areas if a minimum distance of 1.5 meters cannot be maintained.

2G evidence during presence events

Due to the ongoing level 2 alert, the 2G regulation is still in effect for classroom events on campus. Verification of 2G evidence is done on a random basis by our faculties. For this purpose, please use the university certificates that you will be issued in our Central Student Services. You will then no longer need to show an ID card. Exceptions to the 2G rule apply to courses that must be attended in person: For laboratory practicals, examinations or also for the use of libraries, tested persons also continue to have access.

Vaccination offers in January

The decisive key for a return to normality on campus continues to be the high vaccination rate of all participants. We would therefore like to take this opportunity to call on you once again to take advantage of the numerous vaccination offers in Heidelberg and the surrounding area. The next vaccination campaign at our university will take place on January 26, 2022. You will receive more information about this and the registration link in the next few days by e-mail and via our social media channels.

We expect a new Corona ordinance study operation in the next few days. If this should result in supplementary or deviating regulations, we will inform you immediately.

We sincerely thank you for your willingness to cooperate and are confident that we will find a good common path through the pandemic again this year.

Best regards

Your university management

Dear Students,

„The strange thing about the future is probably the idea that our time will one day be called the good old days.“

With this quote by Ernest Hemingway, we would like to start the new year with you and wish you all the best for 2022. Please watch this video with the New Year’s speech of our Rector, Prof. Dr. Carsten Diener.
